This week, we tour a fascinating 4-room BTO flat in Bedok that is unlike most homes you’ve seen. Homeowners Nathaniel and Janeen are the proud owners of a home that has been nearly entirely thrifted and sourced from marketplaces like Carousell. They opted for a home that is sustainable, and while the journey is harder, it certainly makes it much more interesting to find such items as each will come with its own character and story.
The home is sized at 92 square metres, and was renovated at a cost of $30k. It’s not just the decorative items, but big ticket items that were painstakingly sourced online. For example, the dining tables were second hand from IKEA, and the spindle back chairs took some time longer to find, but was worth the effort as it was a great fit for their dining set.
Special thanks to Nathaniel and Janeen for sharing their inspiring story and encouragement to others looking to build a sustainable home.
