This week, we tour an executive maisonette nestled in the heart of Tampines. The homeowners have opted for a California Casual theme, with the home spanning 1,657 sqft, featuring three bedrooms and three baths.

A glass-filled entryway (formerly a recessed corridor) welcomes you in, filled with a delightful blend of greenery and vintage fixtures. Skylights above shower the area with natural light, creating a warm and inviting welcome home.

Transitioning seamlessly into the home, the main door opens straight into the open-concept kitchen. Here, we see themes of the California casual style with its natural wood tones and rustic elements – nicely complementing the cream-colored carpentry.

Past the kitchen (and through glass bifold doors), we step into the utility yard – which has been kept mostly simple and clean.
It serves as a transitional space for one of the home’s most extraordinary features – an indoor balcony with a double-volume ceiling concealed behind full-length glass panels.

This unique space provides breathtaking views of the surroundings. A huge Draco tree and a smaller olive tree nicely fills up the space, with the area often used as a tranquil daytime retreat – undoubtedly inspired by Mediterranean coastal charm.

Wrapping around is the living room. With full views of the balcony, it’s adorned with darker vinyl flooring and cream furnishings, radiating warmer tones.

A retractable screen hangs over the balcony entry, serving as a projector substitute against the traditional television set, whilst freeing up valuable floor space and providing a light barrier against the open balcony.

Completing a full loop back to the entry, we find the dining room set against windows and a single glass panel, inviting plenty of natural light into the space. A six-seater dining set, adorned with a hanging pendant lamp makes for a simple dining area with views of the greenery outside – occasionally doubling up as a work area.

As we make our way up, we find sweeping black banisters and glass panels adorning the sides of the rooms, bathing the stairwell in abundant natural light.
Upstairs, we find 3 bedrooms.

One is currently used as storage, while the other serves as a cat sanctuary for the homeowner’s 2 felines.

The common bath here is finished in a salt-pink tone, featuring circular elements that help to break the rigid textures.

Finally, the master bedroom is kept simple and cozy. A queen-size bed sets center stage with hanging pendant lamps on either end, while a wall of built-in wardrobes sits opposite, ensuring ample storage.

As always, special thanks to the homeowners for allowing us to tour their beautiful home.
