The third Capella branded residence in the world will make its debut in Brisbane, Australia in 2029. Singapore-based luxury hospitality management company Capella Hotel Group is teaming up with Australian property developer Verso Projects to restore a historic estate into a luxury riverfront residence.
The new branded residence will be located at the historic 174 year old Shafston House estate, which is located at Kangaroo Point along the Brisbane River. The Capella branded residence will consist of 50 ultra prime homes that start from A$8 million ($7.19 million) for a three-bedroom apartment.
At the heart of the residences is Shafston House, which was constructed in several stages between 1851 and 1904. Listed in the Queensland Heritage Register in 2005, the Victorian Gothic-style villa is the third-oldest residence in Queensland. Shafston House will become an exclusive residents’ club that connects the site’s rich history with luxury residential living.
The restoration and transformation of this heritage property into this prestigious project is a collaboration between Capella, Verso Projects, Kerry Hill Architects, interior design studio 1508 London, and PWP Landscape Architecture.
Other new amenities include expansive gardens and six swimming pools. Central to the luxury residential offering is the Capella Living Room, which will feature a welcoming, residential-style space that fosters connection, cultural immersion, and personalised services.
A new dedicated two-storey wellness sanctuary will also be constructed, and it will feature magnesium pools and hot and cold plunges to sauna, experience showers, a fully equipped gym and private treatment rooms.
In addition, two River Homes will be constructed along the embankment, complemented by a private marina, porte cochère providing sheltered drop-off and pick-up facilities, and private basement garage parking.
One of Australia’s key luxury property markets, Brisbane is seeing sustained population growth, infrastructure investment and increasing international audience. The city is also emerging as a global luxury destination ahead of the 2032 Olympic Games.
