5 Unique And Stylish Walk-Up Apartment Units For Those After Something Different

As our recent article on walk-up apartments was rather well-received, it was only reasonable for us to conclude that there would be relevant interest in looking for various walk-up apartments in Singapore.
While part of the appeal of looking for an older walk-up apartment is to redecorate it to your heart’s content, the added costs and headaches of a complete renovation may be too much to bear at this point in time because of Covid-19. With that in mind, we set out to look for walk-up apartments that have already been renovated, and are in ready-to-move-in condition.

1Eng Aun Mansion

$1,450,000
Address: | Eng Aun Mansion |
---|---|
Tenure: | Freehold |
Size: | 871 sqft |
$PSF: | $1,664.75 PSF |
Developer: | Unknown Developer |
TOP: | 2016 |
Why I like it
While most well-renovated walk-up apartments are found in Tiong Bahru, this is a rather unique find at Eng Aun Mansion. There’s a lot to like here, it’s freehold and just a short walk away from Novena MRT station (also the trio of shopping centres, Novena Square, Royal Square and United Square). Although the downside of the centrality is the proximity to the main road. Things should get better once construction is done, but for now you’d have to deal with both traffic and construction noise.
This is a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom unit at 871 square feet. It isn’t terribly big but definitely more spacious than your average new launch 2 bedder today. I really like the minimalist nature and how everything is white and open. The bathrooms take on a more unique spin with the pale grey and bluish green tiles as well.

2Binjai Park

$2,130,000
Address: | Binjai Park |
---|---|
Tenure: | Freehold |
Size: | 1,313 sqft |
$PSF: | $1,622.24 PSF |
Developer: | N/A |
TOP: | N/A |
Why I like it
Like what we covered in our walk-up apartment article, Binjai Park is pretty much a firm favourite due to a variety of reasons. For one, you are in a pretty close walking distance to King Albert Park MRT station on the downtown line. You also have a choice of local cuisine from Hup Choon, and more upscale food like Capri and Lino Italian. And not forgetting, the ever popular IVINS peranakan food. There’s also grocery options such as an NTUC Fairprice right at your doorstep.
This is a very large 1 bedroom and 2 bathroom unit at 1,313 square foot that you can also convert into a 2 bedroom due to the open plan layout. While the colours are definitely more on the masculine side, the black and grey look is very sleek and minimalist. I especially like the look of the black marbled bathroom, it looks rather luxurious indeed.

356 Eng Hoon Street

$1,268,000
Address: | 56 Eng Hoon Street |
---|---|
Tenure: | 99-year Leasehold |
Size: | 1,000 sqft |
$PSF: | $1,268.00 PSF |
Developer: | Housing & Development Board (HDB) |
TOP: | 1937 |
Why I like it
Tiong Bahru is by far and away the number one spot for those looking for a walk-up apartment, and that’s undoubtedly because of the charm and ambience of its location. With a mix of local hawker food and hipster coffee joints and cafe, it’s a big part of why so many people are drawn to the location as a place to call home.
This is a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom apartment sized at 1,000 square feet, which is definitely more than decent in terms of size. I really like the open nature of the kitchen (along with a sizeable kitchen island). The blue colours along with the grey floors look suitably stylish and the balcony looks to be a really nice spot for a morning coffee as you look down on the sights and sounds of Tiong Bahru.

4Tiong Bahru Road – Walk Up Apartment

$1,450,000
Address: | Tiong Bahru Road – Walk Up Apartment |
---|---|
Tenure: | 99-year Leasehold |
Size: | 1,291 sqft |
$PSF: | $1,123.16 PSF |
Developer: | N/A |
TOP: | 1967 |
Why I like it
Like Reuben, there was only one space on my mind where looking for a walk-up apartment is concerned. Along with the charm of Tiong Bahru, it’s just such a central location if you are working in town of CBD, and there’s enough excitement without it being too overcrowded as well.
This is a originally 3 bedroom and 1 bathroom unit that has been redone to a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom unit of 1,291 square feet in size – so very spacious indeed. It’s very well-renovated with the kitchen done up in a very classic style. It’s not for those looking for something very modern in style (the wardrobes are definitely on the older side), but the bedrooms here are truly very spacious here.

5Walk Up Apartment with Rooftop Terrace

$1,950,000
Address: | Walk Up Apartment with Rooftop Terrace |
---|---|
Tenure: | 999-year Leasehold |
Size: | 1,033 sqft |
$PSF: | $1,887.71 PSF |
Developer: | N/A |
TOP: | N/A |
Why I like it
This is a 999-year walk-up apartment in the East (which is as good as freehold really). It’s located in the Siglap area and will be about 10-minutes away from the upcoming Siglap MRT station on the TEL line. It’s got a good amount of amenities nearby, with Siglap Shopping Centre within walkable distance as well as coffeeshops, ice cream joints and an NTUC Fairprice that’s situated along Upper East Coast Road.
This is a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom unit at a size of 1,033 square feet. The unit was renovated about 2 years ago, and still looks to be in a good condition and with a modern design. What sets it apart is the roof terrace on the second level, although it isn’t all that big that you can really luxuriate in.
