You might have heard of the saying:
Once an Eastie, always an Eastie.
It’s been argued many a time that the East has the best food in Singapore. Couple that with the proximity to East Coast Park and the lovely sea views (for some people), and it’s not hard to see why some people swear by living in the East.
A common complaint has always been the lack of an MRT, but with the Thomson-East Coast line coming up, no one can lay claim that accessibility is an issue anymore.
This week, we focus on some of the smaller boutique developments that the area is well known for. It may be a maze to those new to the area, so do take a closer look at the maps!

1Everitt Green
$1,820,000
Project: | Everitt Green |
---|---|
District | 15 |
Address: | 9 Everitt Road North 428522 |
Tenure: | Freehold |
Size: | 1,270 sqft |
$PSF: | $1,433.07 |
Developer: | Sunrich Investment Pte Ltd |
TOP | 2003 |
Why I like it
Seeing the photos of the apartment, you might be forgiven for thinking that it is a showflat. It is a stylishly renovated apartment that is about a 5 to 7 minute walk away from Eunos MRT station.
It is an old apartment that has only 15 units (it was built in 2003). As you might expect from the area, it is surrounded by a lot of small freehold developments, so you are in like-minded company. Although the bedrooms suffer from smaller windows, you don’t have that issue in the living, with the full length windows being a pleasing sight as you walk into the apartment.
I also like how the study area can be closed/opened up by sliding panels depending on your requirements. So if you want the space to look larger you can just leave it open. If you wanted more privacy, it would be just as easy to have it closed.

2Joo Chiat Mansion
$1,590,000
Project: | Joo Chiat Mansion |
---|---|
District | 15 |
Address: | 185 Joo Chiat Place 427897 |
Tenure: | Freehold |
Size: | 1,238 sqft |
$PSF: | $1,284.33 |
Developer: | Unknown |
TOP | 1986 |
Why I like it
I think going by the name, it is a dead giveaway that this is an old apartment. Joo Chiat Mansion is a freehold apartment built in 1986, so that leaves it at an old age of 35 years old today. As with most small projects from that vintage, it is a walk up, but it does also come with the advantage of size.
At 1,238 square feet for a 2 bedroom apartment, it dwarfs many of the newer developments that you might see in terms of size today. It is well renovated, and you can hardly tell of its age the moment you step into the unit. That said, it’s not the closest located to the MRT, as it is about a 10 minute walk away from Eunos MRT station.

3Meier Suites
$3,200,000
Project: | Meier Suites |
---|---|
District | 15 |
Address: | 10 Margate Road 438051 |
Tenure: | Freehold |
Size: | 1,798 sqft |
$PSF: | $1,779.76 |
Developer: | SB (Meyer) Development Pte Ltd (Soilbuild Group Holdings Ltd) |
TOP | 2011 |
Why I like it
Looking like it has come straight off the covers from an interior design magazine, this 3 bedroom unit at Meier Suites is impeccably furnished. Although to be clear, it was formerly a 3 bedder that has now been converted into a very spacious 2 bedroom unit.
Built in 2011, it is a freehold development with just 55 units. It clearly has luxury intentions, with private lift access to the unit. It comes with a wet and dry kitchen, although you should take note that it does have wasted bay window and planter space. I must say, however, that it has been elegantly placed with a wooden decking of sorts so that it doubles up as a display area instead.

4Seraya Breeze
$1,500,000
Project: | Seraya Breeze |
---|---|
District | 15 |
Address: | 3 Seraya Road 437235 |
Tenure: | Freehold |
Size: | 1,001 sqft |
$PSF: | $1,498.50 |
Developer: | Unknown Developer |
TOP | 2001 |
Why I like it
Seraya Breeze is one of those older apartments that will definitely stand to gain from the arrival of the Thomson East Coast line. Although it must be said that it will still be a good 10 minute walk to it.
This place was built in 2001, and yes, it is freehold. At just a hair over 1,000 sq ft in size, it is decently sized for a 3 bedroom in today’s context. The shell of the apartment is already almost there, so you really just need a minor touch-up (and furniture) to move in.
It is situated on the ground floor, and with the full length windows in the living area, it is quite a bright, cheery unit.

5Meridian 38
$1,850,000
Project: | Meridian 38 |
---|---|
District | 15 |
Address: | 38 Lorong M Telok Kurau 425317 |
Tenure: | Freehold |
Size: | 1,238 sqft |
$PSF: | $1,494.35 |
Developer: | JVA Telok Kurau Pte Ltd |
TOP | 2015 |
Why I like it
As with many of the developments in the Telok Kurau area, this is a small freehold project with just 19 units. Built in 2015, it is still considered to be relatively new.
So at 1,238 square feet for a 3 bedder, it may seem fairly spacious on paper but you have to note that it is a top floor penthouse unit. So there will be wasted space that you have to take into account with the staircase. Some people may find the dining area to be a little small, but I do quite like the cosy nature of the unit. It certainly helps that it is done up nicely – with the highlight being the bedroom with the sloping roof – it’s not something you’d see every day!
