This week, we’ve got a good mix between old and new developments. But some things don’t change in how we select our UOTW – each one is quite unique in its own way.
Our team’s pick of the week? A masterful piece located in the Bukit Timah area.

Here we go, these are the Units Of The Week for the week of 25 August 2020.

1Urban Suites @ Hullet Road

$9,500,000
Project: | Urban Suites @ Hullet Road |
---|---|
District: | 09 |
Address: | 1 Hullet Road |
Tenure: | Freehold |
Size: | 4,715 sqft |
$PSF: | $2,014.85 |
Developer: | Augite Pte Ltd |
TOP: | 2013 |
Why I like it
As far as Orchard Road condos go, Urban Suites is in one of the better locations in my opinion. It is close enough to the main shopping belt, but yet, its location in the Hullet/Emerald area means that some units will face the low-lying landed homes. So it is quite quiet, and more private as well.
While a close to 8 digit price tag will scare most buyers away, bear in mind this is a 4,715 square feet penthouse apartment. So the $2,000ish psf you are paying for this isn’t actually exorbitant (all things considered).
It’s two levels, with the bedrooms all on the top floor, along with the pretty big private swimming pool. Oh, and the private lift goes to both floors as well.

2Astridville

$6,300,000
Project: | Astridville |
---|---|
District: | 10 |
Address: | 28-28C Jalan Ampang |
Tenure: | Freehold |
Size: | 4,000 sqft |
$PSF: | $1,575 |
Developer: | Villa D’este Pte Ltd |
TOP: | 1985 |
Why I like it
Unless you are familiar with the area, Astridville will probably be a somewhat unknown development to most people.
Don’t let its dated exterior fool you though, for this 4,000 square feet unit is a prime example of exactly why you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover.
The sultry dark tones, and the clean sleek lines are really attractive (more so to men, I think), and the expanse of space here is very apparent. You could say that it’s because it is two units joined into one big unit, but it’s quite clear that if space and style is your priority – then this place has that in spades.

3Eng Hoon Street

$880,000
Project: | Eng Hoon Street |
---|---|
District: | 03 |
Address: | Eng Hoon Street |
Tenure: | 99 years |
Size: | 960 sqft |
$PSF: | $916.67 |
Developer: | – |
TOP: | – |
Why I like it
It’s no secret that Tiong Bahru is everyone’s favourite hipster hangout, and these walk-up units along Eng Hoon Street is my personal dream – if I were still single at least.
At 960 square feet for a one bedroom apartment, it is definitely a very spacious space to be in – more so because of its open-plan concept. I mean, when you see new launches around the same size today cramming in 3 bedrooms with the same space, this is for sure more than enough for most people.
And because of its open layout as well, it is very customisable still to fit your needs.

4Siglap V

$1,350,000
Project: | Siglap V |
---|---|
District: | 15 |
Address: | 2 First Street |
Tenure: | Freehold |
Size: | 991 sqft |
$PSF: | $1,362.26 |
Developer: | DB2 Realty Developer |
TOP: | 2014 |
Why I like it
As far as amenities and shopping are concerned, those looking at Siglap V should be pretty happy at how extensive the number of shops are in that area. However, if you do require the MRT station, that remains a cause for concern – even with the upcoming Siglap MRT station on the Thomson East Coast line – it isn’t exactly a walkable distance.
This unit at Siglap V is very well renovated, particularly so if you have a collection of memorabilia or figurines that you want to showcase – as this place has a built-in showcase display cabinet that stretches all the way to the ceiling.

5Blossom Residences

$969,000
Project: | Blossom Residences |
---|---|
District: | 23 |
Address: | 30 Segar Road |
Tenure: | 99 years |
Size: | 969 sqft |
$PSF: | $1,000 |
Developer: | Grand Isle Holdings Pte Ltd |
TOP: | 2014 |
Why I like it
Blossom Residences is definitely one of those developments that owning a car should be a prerequisite. It isn’t close to the MRT station (although it is close to the Segar LRT), and neither is it central to much place else.
This unit is rather well renovated, and offers a good view with a partial swimming pool and forest facing.
