This year, we've had several opportunities to take a closer look at the Bishan and Upper Thomson neighbourhoods. In recent weeks, the focus has been on the launch of Thomson Reserve, the 1,268-unit development on Bright Hill Drive.
With the project expected to draw in a large number of families with school-going children, part of the discussion surrounding that new launch project involves some of the nearby schools, including Catholic High School.
The autonomous Catholic boys' school along Bishan Street 22 has a long pedigree in Singapore and is one of the most desirable schools for families living in and around Bishan.
Competition for places at Catholic High School is also expected to increase once the new HDB estate along Upper Thomson Road is completed. The first tranche of Build-To-Order (BTO) flats at Lakeview and Shunfu was launched during the June 2026 BTO sales exercise.
The largest new BTO project is Lakeview Cascadia, a 1,221-unit BTO development bounded along Upper Thomson Road. The Prime BTO project was 4.7 times oversubscribed. It's an indication of just how popular this area is among homeowners.
Finally, land prices in this part of Bishan came into focus after Malaysian property developer Eco World Development won the tender for a government land sale (GLS) site in Sin Ming / Lorong Puntong. It submitted the winning bid of $208 million, which works out to a land rate of $1,612 psf per plot ratio (ppr).
