Not sure about you, but we’ve always had a thing for conservation houses here at Stacked. Perhaps its the rarity of it, but its always extra special when you actually take a look inside and see how well designed it is on the inside. Just ask Reuben and his experience at Figment!
So in this week’s issue of Units Of The Week, we take a look at some of the special conservation houses in Singapore. Some of the prices might be eye-watering but it is no doubt unique!

Here we go, these are the Units Of The Week for the week of 20 January 2021.

1Conservation House District 9

$5,300,000
Project: | District 9 Orchard |
---|---|
District: | 9 |
Address: | 15 Makepeace Road |
Tenure: | Freehold |
Size: | 2,500 sqft |
$PSF: | $3,421.56 |
Developer: | – |

Why I like it
This conservation house along Makepeace Road is quite a stunner – even from the outside. With its royal blue painted facade, it is unmissable from the front, and only serves to create more anticipation for the inside.
And I have to say, it is certainly striking on the inside as well. It wouldn’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but I daresay those that are fans of heritage housing anyway would probably take a liking to it.
I particularly like the open area (courtyard?) at the back – it looks like nothing that you’d see in Singapore, which is pretty cool.
– Ryan

2Emerald Hill Conserved House

$9,000,001
Project: | Emerald Hill Conserved House |
---|---|
District: | 9 |
Address: | Cairnhill Road |
Tenure: | Freehold |
Size: | 4,200 sqft |
$PSF: | $4,529.44 |
Developer: | – |

Why I like it
Naturally at a price point close to $10 million, this property isn’t for everyone. But, for a unit that is conserved, freehold, and is in close walking distance to Orchard, you would definitely expect to pay a pretty penny for it.
As compared to its facade, the interior is actually pretty modern looking – save for the odd antique piece here and there. What I especially like is that skylight in the middle, that brings loads of light into the house.
It is a 4 bedroom unit, so it would cater to bigger families – plus they are all en suite as well. Perhaps the only downside for me here are the stairs (definitely not for elderly parents) and the kitchen, with those greyish tones it does look a bit dated.
– Druce

3Emerald Hill Conservation

$POA
Project: | Emerald Hill |
---|---|
District: | 9 |
Address: | Saunders Road |
Tenure: | Freehold |
Size: | 5,100 sqft |
$PSF: | $- |
Developer: | – |
TOP: | – |
Why I like it
There’s no doubt this one is probably the most expensive of the lot. At 5,100 square feet of living space, it is very generous but for the biggest of families.
Located in the same vicinity as the other Emerald Hill unit, this one looks (in my opinion), even better from the outside. As you can see from the photos, it is currently impeccably painted on its facade.
It is, a really short walk to Orchard (and a pleasant one at that), and even has the luxury of a private lift inside the unit. I love the double volume height living and the detailing of both modern and heritage features are what really makes it special for me.
– Reuben

4Cairnhill Conservation House

$10,000,000
Project: | Cairnhill Conservation House |
---|---|
District: | 9 |
Address: | Cairnhill Road |
Tenure: | Freehold |
Size: | 5,000 sqft |
$PSF: | $3,878.98 |
Developer: | – |
TOP: | – |
Why I like it
As much as I wanted to provide some variety and choose another location, I really do like this one at Cairnhill Road. Like the one that Reuben chose, this is a similar size, but the interior here is more white-washed and modern looking.
I love the skylight with the reflective pond in the middle – and the glass staircase in the middle is a real centrepiece as well. There are 4 bedrooms here, and the master bedroom is a real special one. It comes with a loft and its own balcony.
– Stanley

5Everitt Road Conserved House

$3,500,001
Project: | Everitt Road |
---|---|
District: | 15 |
Address: | Everitt Road |
Tenure: | Freehold |
Size: | 3,000 sqft |
$PSF: | $2,946.13 psf |
Developer: | – |
TOP: | – |
Why I like it
This might be the cheapest of the lot, but it still isn’t cheap in my books. That said, I’m a real fan of it because of the interior. It is very reminiscent of a hotel (like the Duxton Reserve) and I just really like the vibe of it.
What’s cool is that each bedroom has a very different look and character – almost like its a themed hotel as well. It is a 3 bedroom unit at 3,000 square feet in size so interior space is pretty generous for sure.
– Sean
