In this week’s Living In episode, we take a look at a 1,636 square-foot, three-bedroom condo located along the scenic East Coast Park.

From the start, the homeowners expressed their love for the ocean and their desire to incorporate it into their home. To achieve this, Max strategically placed a mesmerising reef tank near the entrance foyer. As the owners return home in the evening, the gentle ripples and soothing ambiance of the tank create a spa-like experience, infusing the space with a sense of tranquillity.

by AdrianoThe living room, characterised by its simplicity, allows the lime wash background paint to serve as the centrepiece. To add visual interest, Max designed a unique TV console, combining contrasting materials such as concrete and wood. This thoughtful mix of textures breathes life into the room and complements the Wabi-Sabi aesthetic that the homeowners wished to achieve.

In line with their love for coffee, Max dedicated a dry pantry area to satisfy the homeowners’ morning ritual. The custom-made dining table boasts round legs and curved edges, harmonising perfectly with the Wabi-Sabi concept. The choice of a linear wooden log as the dining table’s lighting fixture further accentuates the nature-inspired atmosphere.

The kitchen space was ingeniously designed to conceal a structural column, making it both functional and visually appealing. Max introduced a fish tank, kitchen space, sink unit, bench, and storage spaces around it, seamlessly integrating these elements into the overall design. A triangular layout formed by the fridge, sink unit, and cooker hob ensures optimal efficiency for daily use.

To maximise the breathtaking view from the balcony, the original ventilation window was removed and replaced with a frameless glass curtain system. This transformation provides the homeowners with an unobstructed panorama, complemented by a comfortable hammock where they can unwind and stargaze at night.

In the common bathroom, the sink unit was relocated to an easily accessible and efficient feature island. Positioned strategically, the sea can be glimpsed while using the mirror. The microcement finish on the walls and ceiling, along with the Dune-coloured tile flooring, creates a cave-like ambiance, offering a truly relaxing bathing experience.

The master bedroom showcases a stylish cement floor finish, reminiscent of the homeowners’ previous rental unit. To add warmth and contrast to the space, a darker shade of wood was chosen for the laminated wardrobe..

In response to the owners’ request for a more interactive space, an aperture was introduced in the master bathroom. This innovative addition enhances the connection between the couple and provides a unique focal point. With microcement finishes and a soothing colour scheme, the master bath exudes a calm and serene ambiance.

To address the lack of a view in the study room, Max skillfully hacked down a portion of the wall, framing a captivating vista that extends from the living room to the dining area. This thoughtful inclusion reflects the homeowners’ desire for a unit that captures both an inspiring view and a prime location.
