Hi Ryan,

The Mrs and I are getting married this year and we are actively looking for a home to nest in. The past 7 BTO exercises that we participated in were a disappointment where we did not even get a queue number. We have tried for SBF with queue number 146/108 flats in tampines 5 rm and if there is any flat left it would be earliest late April to even get called up. Current market prices for any home at minimum is within 600k-800k and our combined income per month is only 9k+. Is it really worth biting the bullet and getting a resale instead?

Hey Kelvin, I do think that $600K-$800K is still okay for a household income of $9K+, as you’ll need to meet the MSR requirements and it’s still possible with that. I think whether to bite the bullet or not just depends on your timeline. If staying in a mature estate of your choosing is really important, then just get the resale flat and then you can move on with your life. There are those who tried BTO 10, 20 times and still failed. It’s really a waste of time if you have to move in but continue to ballot and fail. If you are not in need to move in within the next few years, then it’s okay to continue balloting so this is something that you’re going to have to ask yourself.
