The Downtown line was actually announced all the way back in 2005 to be the fifth MRT line to be introduced into Singapore’s MRT network.

Certainly makes you feel old, doesn’t it?

With the Downtown line, residents in the Bukit Timah area can now take a train all the way to the East and more importantly, get to areas like Bugis, CBD, and Chinatown without having to change train.
