This week, we visit a really rare home – a HDB shophouse at Everton Park.
Homeowners Cedric and Jody found a unique gem that would fit their requirements, a shop space below for a bakery with a residential space above.
This was a perfect arrangement for Jody (who is the owner of Folks & Stories), as she would just need to pop below for work, and get home in a jiffy as well.
They were both fans of a minimalist look, and the first thing they did was to remove all the walls possible in the home.
As a result, the dining table connects with the TV console and the bar, since they realised they spent most of their time in the living area anyway.
The row of cabinetry behind opens up into a study area and additional storage, so it can be kept neat and tidy when not in use.
They also have a sliding door that cuts across the house, which can cover the kitchen or master bedroom at any one time.
To get more light into the bedroom, they decided to go with a fluted glass panel in the middle of both spaces.
Special thanks to Jody and Cedric for showing us around their special home.
