I last visited Sunset Way back in 2022, when I did a tour of the condo development, Clementi Park. Besides Clementi Park, Sunset Way is also home to other developments, such as Freesia Woods and the upcoming Ki Residences. In addition, besides apartments, Sunset Way has many landed homes, so I thought it was time to revisit the area! As it is huge (it reminds me of a little town actually) we will only be covering part of it today, mainly the streets Sunset Close, Sunset Grove, and part of Sunset Way.
The challenge for many buyers today isn't access to information.

Here’s a map of the area, to better help you visualise our walkabout. I have had several friends who live in this area, so I’ve been here many times. One thing they used to gripe about was the long walk out to the main road (Clementi Road.) However, did you know that there’s a shortcut to Clementi Avenue 6 within the estate? I chose this part of Sunset Way to focus on first, because it’s where the shortcut lies. (And it’s close to 1 of the 3 playgrounds within the landed enclave, Sunset Way Playground.)
Let’s start our walk at Sunset Close. This is a curving cul-de-sac just behind Freesia Woods and Sunset Lodge.
Perhaps because Sunset Way is quite a busy road, Sunset Lodge has a tall fence of greenery in front of it, keeping the apartments very private. (According to PropertyGuru, some of the apartments here are very large, going up to 3,434 sq ft - one was sold for $3.1 million in March 2022.)Entrance to Sunset Close, off Sunset Way.Looking to the right of Sunset Close - this is the main road Sunset Way. As you can see, it’s quite a broad road. Although this part has a single white line, street parking is allowed on some of the other stretches of this road.Walking into Sunset Close. As you may have noticed, some of the houses here are quite large. (There are terrace units which range from 3,000 sq ft up to over 5,000 sq ft as well as some semi-Ds.)Hence, I was a little surprised to see that there were so many cars parked along the street. (Generally, in areas with larger houses, there are fewer street parking issues as the houses have larger car porches.)There are some high-rise apartments behind the houses, but they’re pretty far away, so you don’t feel hemmed in at all. The area feels very spacious.The street ends with this block of apartments - I’m guessing it’s the back of Sunset Lodge. It’s quite a short street and we’ve seen most of it now, so let’s head back out.The view walking out of Sunset Close.Looking back into Sunset Close - this is one of the construction projects I saw in the neighbourhood (but generally, there weren’t many. Most of the houses I saw were quite modern - either (relatively) recently built, renovated, or rebuilt.)What you see immediately outside of Sunset Close.The Freesia Woods condo - it’s next to a large condo (and I believe some units overlook the park connector. We’ll head that way in a bit.)Walking outside Freesia Woods - as you may have spotted, it’s a dotted white line here on Sunset Way so street parking should be allowed.Opposite Freesia Woods, along Sunset Way, are some of the largest terrace houses I’ve seen. I initially thought they were detached houses, but then I saw that the walls were adjoining.Now, I had said that Sunset Way reminds me of a self-contained little town, and towns always need shops. Here’s where some of them are located - in Clementi Arcade.Now, don’t get your hopes up. Clementi Arcade is VERY quiet. I’ve been there with friends several times over the years and it’s, well, let’s just say not the most happening place in town. It does, however, house a Cold Storage, Baker & Cook, Daily Scoop etc, so some convenient amenities to have nearby.There’s also a path beside Clementi Arcade that takes you to the park Connector, so let’s head that way for a look.I’ve seen my share of park connectors during these walkabouts so wasn’t expecting much but I must say this one did look a bit more scenic than the others I’ve seen. It was also much less busy. I think it’s a bit of a hidden gem - I didn’t see many people using it.Previously, we looked to the right. Now this photo shows what you see as you look to the left, towards Clementi Road.It’s a pleasant enough stroll that I’m sending my friends a text to come here for a walk the next time we meet.Time to head back out - this is what we see opposite Clementi Arcade.More construction in the hood- you can see how the new build is maximising the plot ratio (compared to the older houses on the left.)
Looking to the left, down Sunset Way - can you see how lush, green and spacious the estate feels? We’ve been to several expansive landed enclaves in the past, but Sunset Way feels much more central. I might be biased since I used to live a few minutes away from Sunset Way, but Sunset Way is an easy drive to Orchard Road (down Holland Road) as well as close to Bukit Timah and many famous schools.
The only thing to note is that Clementi Road can get pretty jammed during peak hours and before/after school. (There is Ngee Ann Poly, SIM etc along Clementi Road.)
We walked all the way out to Clementi Road when we toured Clementi Park, so I won’t take you down the same road again. However, I just want to point out that there is an HDB estate right at the entrance of Sunset Way which helps to buffer out the road noise from Clementi Road AND also provides amenities. Unfortunately, I must say that it’s not the most useful HDB estate as the market and hawker centre there are VERY small. One of my close friends works in the HDB estate and she’s always telling me how limited the food options are.
OK now let’s turn left and head over to Sunset Way Playground!
Like the estate, the playground here is large and allows kids lots of space to roam around. If it ever feels too crowded, families have the option of heading to 2 other playgrounds within this estate (or to the park connector.)Some kids were using the area so I couldn’t get a clear shot. But I must say it’s more notable for the size of the space than the variety of playground rides. Still, space is a luxury in Singapore. A large playground not only allows kids more room to run about but also gives the surrounding houses more space from the rambunctious kids.If you walk past the playground, the road will lead you to Clementi Park and Ki Residences, but we’re not headed that way today.Instead, we’re going to cross the road and turn to the left to head to Sunset Grove, the street next to Sunset Close.Tree cutting was in progress when I headed to Sunset Grove.I’m not sure if you noticed, but the majority of the houses in Sunset Way are detached units. It’s always nice to own a terrace house in a detached estate (as the estate usually feels less claustrophobic) and, along Sunset Grove, we can find some of the rare terrace units in the estate.One thing I’ve noticed about the terrace houses that we’ve passed is that they seem to be quite short stretches, usually comprising about 3 houses only.At the end of the cul-de-sac, we find a small path. Let’s head over and see where it takes us.To the right of the path is a large open field.What an amazing view these houses must have! You can see the view from the houses here in this article.I like how the path is mobility-friendly too.And here’s where it leads us - to Clementi Avenue 6. (Looking to the left of the exit.)And to the right. There was quite a bit of traffic but thanks to the large field in between the road and the houses, I had no clue that I was close to a road when I was walking up from Sunset Grove!This area is quite industrial but there is a road crossing if you want to get to the other side and a bus stop, with 2 buses: 185 and 189.
This brings us to the end of today’s walkabout. How did you find the area? After viewing so many landed enclaves, I can certainly see its charm!
