Given that shophouses seem to be all the rage at the moment, we figured this would be timely to showcase some more of the more notable shophouse listings that we’ve come across this week.
It’s hard to really pick a favourite, all of them are unique in their own right. But if we had a gun to our head and really had to choose? Well, that Tessensohn Road one is truly quite a stunner.

1Peranakan Shophouse
$3,990,002

Why I like it
Truthfully speaking, this isn’t the most attractive looking shophouse on this list by any stretch of the imagination. But, from the photos you can see that the general barebones that you need is still in very good condition and you honestly don’t have to do much. The toilets and kitchen still look to be holding up very well, so just minimal dressing up needed. Of course, that is if you are into the sort of Peranakan vibe that it holds.
It does consist of 3,200 square feet of build up space, which is generous for a 4 bedroom layout, but you will have to bear in mind the space that the stairs will take up.

2Niven Road Shophouse
$6,050,001
Project: | Niven Road Shophouse |
---|---|
District: | 09 |
Address: | Niven Road |
Tenure: | Freehold |
Size: | 1,490 sqft |
$PSF: | $4,060.40 |
Developer: | NA |

Why I like it
This shophouse at Niven Road is one of those where the saying “don’t judge a book by its cover” rings true. On the inside, it looks like a great blend of modernity while still keeping touch with its roots.
I really like the open feeling of the staircase area, along with the top floor with the sloping roof and skylight. There are other unique touches like the shuttered window blinds that look internally into the stairwell.
Personally, I’m not the biggest fan of the Mount Emily location, but for those who want a hybrid of being close to town and the Bugis area, this offers a convenient but more private hideout.

3Tessensohn Shophouse
$7,600,000
Project: | Tessensohn Shophouse |

Address: | Farrer Park |
Tenure: | Freehold |
Size: | 1,749 sqft |
$PSF: | $4,345.34 |

Why I like it
While this might be a price that may scare a fair few people of, this freehold shophouse is very uniquely designed in its own right. With a floor size of 4,781 square feet, it is quite a multi-purpose little development on its own.
It has a office space below, a recording studio, a lounge area, 2 studios with its own residential entrance, and an open roof terrace. The best part? It even has its own internal lift.
So with 3 entrances that can access different parts, it can be a very interesting home for a multi-generational family that craves for privacy, or a commercial office use too.

Why I like it
I think I find shophouses in Singapore particularly fascinating because you never really know what you might find on the inside. They may look old and grimy (some of them at least), but on the inside they could really be fabulously done up.
As rare as shophouses are in other parts of Singapore, the CBD is one place where you might say that they are a pretty common sight. This 2 story corner residential shophouse has a very spacious built up area of 4,000 square feet.
Interior wise, I’m not the best descriptor of them, but I would probably classify it as eclectic. Not everyone would be a fan of it, but it definitely is unique.

5Onan Road Terrace Shophouse
$3,180,000
Project: | Onan Road Shophouse |
---|---|
District: | 14 |
Address: | Onan Road |
Tenure: | Freehold |
Size: | 1,187 sqft |
$PSF: | $2,679.02 psf |
Developer: | NA |

Why I like it
This Onan Road shophouse is not too bad of an overall quantum for someone looking for freehold landed living, but is hankering for something different at the same time.
At a built up of 2,052 square feet, the first floor will consist of the kitchen and living and dining area (plus yard and helpers room). The second floor will have a family area, master bedroom and another bedroom.
Sure, not everyone would be a fan of the location, but you can’t doubt its centrality and general convenience – especially when it comes to food.
I do quite like the interior as well. A&A works were done just 2 years ago so I don’t suppose you’ll have much to do there!
