Although minimalism is hardly a new trend (Marie Kondo seems like such old news now), the minimalist look is still a very popular aesthetic that many younger couples like to adopt.
This week, here are a few of the more well-designed homes that will be sure to attract the minimalist in you.

1260A Ang Mo Kio Street 21

$980,000
Address: | 260A Ang Mo Kio Street 21 |
---|---|
Tenure: | 99-year Leasehold |
Size: | 1,000 sqft |
$PSF: | $980.00 PSF |
Developer: | Housing & Development Board (HDB) |
TOP: | 2016 |
Why I like it
As far as minimalist apartments go, this one is definitely right up there for me. Clad in a very neutral white and cream based tones, the overall look is super chic and sleek. You’d probably have to be a type A personality to like such an arrangement, as any sight of a little clutter here will certainly undo the look of the place very quickly.
There are also a number of cool touches. While the kitchen is an open concept, there are 2 tempered glass panels that can be slid to close up the kitchen if needed. There is also a raised platform in the master bedroom for additional storage – which is always a good thing!
Lastly, the location itself is also a plus point. You are in close walking distance to the very large Bishan Ang Mo Kio Park, and with that, Lower Peirce Reservoir Park is also accessible. For those interested in the connectivity, Mayflower MRT station on the Thomson East Coast line is about a 5-minute walk away.

244 Lengkok Bahru

$1,288,000
Address: | 44 Lengkok Bahru |
---|---|
Tenure: | 99-year Leasehold |
Size: | 1,517 sqft |
$PSF: | $849.04 PSF |
Developer: | Housing & Development Board (HDB) |
TOP: | 1983 |
Why I like it
Lengkok Bahru is a bit of an under the radar location. It’s about 8-minutes walk away from Redhill MRT station so it is still pretty convenient. And of course it’s general location as a city fringe spot is great for those that want to be near the CBD but don’t want to be in the immediate hustle and bustle. Perhaps because it is surrounded by a number of industrial buildings, but the overall place doesn’t feel as crowded as you might imagine.
This unit is a large Executive Maisonette sized at 1,517 square feet. It’s done up in a very modern minimalist style, and offers the advantage of privacy for occupants as all 3 bedrooms are located on the second floor. It does also have two entrances, one from the dining and the other from the balcony.

3Ferraria Park Condo

$1,350,000
Address: | Ferraria Park Condo |
---|---|
Tenure: | Freehold |
Size: | 1,023 sqft |
$PSF: | $1,319.65 PSF |
Developer: | Tripartite Developers Pte Limited |
TOP: | 1937 |
Why I like it
I think when most people think of something minimalist, it tends to be very white-based and clean. This on the other hand, is the complete opposite. It’s dark and sultry looking, but given the uncluttered nature of it all, I would still consider this to be a pretty minimalist design (perhaps that’s just me though). Still, there’s no denying the classy and luxe feel of the space, and is great for those who don’t want to spend a cent on renovation costs.
This unit is a 3 bedroom that comes in at 1,023 square feet in size, which is decent. It’s in a development called Ferraria Park condo, located at Flora Drive where the area is well known for its mostly affordable freehold developments, but with the one caveat being that it isn’t near an MRT station.

4Sol Acres

$920,000
Address: | Sol Acres |
---|---|
Tenure: | 99-year Leasehold |
Size: | 731 sqft |
$PSF: | $1,258.55 PSF |
Developer: | MCL Land (Brighton) Pte Ltd |
TOP: | 2019 |
Why I like it
Like most Executive Condominiums, Sol Acres isn’t the best located to a MRT station. Bukit Panjang MRT station on the Downtown line is the closest (and not really walkable in my opinion), although you are just outside Teck Whye LRT station that is just 2 stops away. There is also the upcoming Choa Chu Kang West MRT station on the Jurong Region line, but that’s even further away.
This is a 2 bedroom unit at a size of 731 square feet. It’s considered slightly larger than the average new launch today, but definitely can’t be compared to the sizes of the older apartments today. Where this unit shines is in the design, it’s clearly a darker theme that some may feel that it makes the place look smaller, but it does look very sleek and posh indeed.

5Principal Garden

$1,765,000
Address: | Principal Garden |
---|---|
Tenure: | 99-year Leasehold |
Size: | 807 sqft |
$PSF: | $2,187.11 PSF |
Developer: | UOL Group Limited and Kheng Leong Company |
TOP: | 2019 |
Why I like it
Principal Garden is a beautiful property, with one of the nicer landscaped estates I’ve seen. With a ton of different swimming pools to choose from (a rooftop one as well), you will be spoiled for choice should you love to lounge by the pool on the weekends.
This is a 2 bedroom unit that comes in at 807 square feet, which is decent in today’s context. As with the theme of this week’s Units Of The Week, this is done up in a minimalist fashion. With the lovely wood panelling and clever use of the balcony as a dining space instead, it does certainly make full use of the layout. More importantly, this unit faces the landed area of Jervois, which means your view would not be hampered by the upcoming HDB blocks that will lined Alexandra in the next couple of years.
