District 23 may not be the first place on your mind if you are on the look out for a home. It isn’t best placed if you work in the CBD (although the Downtown Line has helped leaps and bounds), and if convenience is your upmost priority there are definitely better spots in Singapore to look at.
But what it does offer is less of the hustle and bustle and less of the crowds. If you are after peace and a more relaxed vibe (not to mention, the greenery views), then District 23 could be one to look at. In our Units Of The Week, we take a look at some of the more interesting units on offer in District 23!

Why I like it
Foresque Residences is located along Petir Road, alongside two other similar aged condos – Tree House and Eco Sanctuary.
For those less familiar with the area, what really draws people here are the unblocked greenery views – get a good facing and the views here are just something else.
That said, you might find it strange just as to why I would be picking a ground floor unit of all things. Well, just take a look at the view out of your living room. Even though it’s a ground unit, if you’re a fan of nature, you’ll probably be able to appreciate the lush greenery and complement the scenery with your own gardening in the outside area.
While the ID leaves much to be desired (personal opinion), another great feature is the double volume ceiling throughout the entire property. It really gives off such a great expansive feel of the space – which isn’t something all to easy to come by in Singapore.

Why I like it
For those wondering, yes, this unit was granted special permission by HDB to sell before the usual 5 year MOP period. So there is a certain level of attraction for those looking at a resale EC.
Coming in at just under $900k, do bear in mind this is a 2 bedroom unit (with a study), but it is a sizeable one in today’s context at 850 square feet.
It’s a high floor, although the view isn’t anything to shout about. But the ID here is pretty nice – it’s modern and should suit the palettes of most people out there.

Why I like it
Guilin View is 20 years old as at time of writing, and it for those looking for a modern look, this definitely isn’t the place for you.
In fact, the interior itself is nothing fancy to speak of – while it isn’t bad, it certainly isn’t what I’d usually pick for my selection for UOTW.
But what is the real highlight here is really the views. As you can probably tell by the name, the main selling point of this condo is definitely the views of the Little Guilin, of which you are able to see it from all your bedrooms as well.
The views are really spectacular, and I’m not even going to try to downplay it here. It is the only development in Singapore with a view such as this – it’s calming and relaxing in every sense of the word.
It’s just a pity about that blocky balcony though – a glass one would have been a real stunner.

Why I like it
This cosy 3 bedder of 958 square feet also happens to be the second cheapest on this list, coming in at just slightly over the magic million dollar mark.
It is a 5-minute walk away from Choa Chu Kang MRT Station and Lot One, so you could say it is actually pretty convenient.
What I especially like about it is the design of the interior. It’s rather modern, with lots of in-built storage spaces (which is an absolute necessity for families). Despite that, the apartment still manages to look quite sleek.
Last but not least, it is on a high enough floor that it clears the opposite HDB blocks as well – while not the best view on this list – I would still chalk it as quite an acceptable one.

Why I like it
For those looking for a longer term lease in the area, Chestnut Ville enjoys a 999-year one – which most people would easily recognise to be as good as a Freehold lease.
At 1,658 square feet for a 3 bedroom unit, you could say that it is very generous in size – even if you take into account the provision of stairs in the unit.
As with most older units, you have a very generous living and dining area – so if you entertain a lot this would definitely be an attraction.
Other than that it is just a 7 minute walk to Cashew MRT, which is quite good all things considered.
