This week on Units Of The Week, it’s back to the theme of bigger more spacious units as the demand for that seems to be insatiable at the moment. Some of these do come with a bit of a lifestyle premium too (yes, the penthouse ones), so as always, the psf might seem attractive but the overall quantum is still high.

1The Light @ Cairnhill

$5,815,000
| Project | The Light @ Cairnhill |
|---|---|
| Address: | 19 Cairnhill Circle |
| Tenure: | Freehold |
| Size: | 2,443 sqft |
| $PSF: | $2,380.27 |
| Developer: | WingTai Holdings |
| TOP | 2004 |
Why I like it
The Cairnhill area seems to have slid down a little in terms of the premium pecking order, but let’s face it – it’s still a very central area to be living at. This is a luxuriously padded out 4 bedroom unit at The Light @ Cairnhill sized at 2,443 square feet. It’s generous, to say the least.
The unit of course comes with a private lift and lobby, it opens up into the living and dining area, and the first thing you’d notice is the wide balcony and view. It has a dumbbell layout, with the junior master bedroom on one side, and the other 3 bedrooms (plus a family room) on the other. In a sense, you can say that all the bedrooms here come with an attached bathroom as the other 2 common bedrooms actually share one bathroom in the middle. Finally, the master bedroom is a very good size so for those that seek out space this would be ideal.

2People’s Park Centre

$3,500,000
| Project | People’s Park Centre |
|---|---|
| Address: | 101 Upper Cross Street 058357 |
| Tenure: | 99-year Leasehold |
| Size: | 4,090 sqft |
| $PSF: | $855.75 |
| Developer: | Unknown |
| TOP | 1976 |
Why I like it
There’s no doubt that People’s Park Centre isn’t a very nice looking building (to me, at least). Still, there’s no denying its iconic look now that has been a part of many photographers photos of Singapore. Not many people would think about this building as a place to live, but its biggest perk is really how central and connected it is. You are essentially at the doorstep of an interchange to the Downtown line and the North East line. You could also walk to Maxwell MRT on the Thomson East Coast line in the future – which isn’t too far away either.
This is a huge penthouse at 4,090 square feet and 4 bedrooms. Mind you, this isn’t one of those luxurious modern penthouses with a rooftop jacuzzi and all that bells and whistles. Rather, this represents an option for those that are after a lot of living space and convenience is the most important factor.

3Idyllic East

$2,500,000
| Project | Idyllic East |
|---|---|
| Address: | 576 Upper East Coast Road 466588 |
| Tenure: | Freehold |
| Size: | 1,905 sqft |
| $PSF: | $1,312.34 |
| Developer: | Hillwood Development Pte Ltd |
| TOP | 2011 |
Why I like it
This penthouse has certainly caught our attention with its lush greenery outside, staying true to the name of the development. What’s great is the amount of sunlight and ventilation the kitchen receives – it even has a greenery view with no units opposite that can look into your home. The unit comes with a separate dining and living area that is spacious on its own too.
The penthouse also features an open roof terrace, and while some would consider this as wasted space, the owners already created an indoor structure that would make relaxing here quite comfortable. Moreover, it is just a 5-minute walk to the nearest MRT Bedok South along the Thomson East Coast Line.

4Flamingo Valley

$3,990,000
| Project | Flamingo Valley |
|---|---|
| Address: | 478 Siglap Road 454852 |
| Tenure: | Freehold |
| Size: | 2,680 sqft |
| $PSF: | $1,488.81 |
| Developer: | FCL Estates Pte. Ltd. |
| TOP | 2015 |
Why I like it
It’s definitely not the first time we’ve done Flamingo Valley – but that’s because it’s got pretty spacious units in the development. This is a duplex penthouse which currently has 4 bedrooms to boot – but can be converted into 6 bedrooms if you wish to accommodate more people.
Its renovation certainly does not look dated at all, and we can see this saving the buyer on renovation costs. It’s also got a pretty decent view of the facilities, and the opposite block is quite some distance away. Buyers looking for a wet and dry kitchen separation would be pleased to see that this unit does come with such a configuration, as well as a dining/living area that allows for flexible configuration.
The first level consists of 2 common bedrooms, a junior suite as well as a study room which is currently used as a walk-in wardrobe. Upstairs is where the magic really is – this is where the master bedroom and second family area can be found. Such a layout is not too common, but really adds to the lifestyle element to it. There’s even an open area just outside the master bedroom for those who appreciate the outdoor living experience.

5Pebble Bay

$3,150,000
| Project: | Pebble Bay |
|---|---|
| Address: | 130 Tanjong Rhu Road 436918 |
| Tenure: | 99-year Leasehold |
| Size: | 2,315 sqft |
| $PSF: | $1,360.69 |
| Developer: | Capitaland |
| TOP | 1998 |
Why I like it
There’s a certain charm about Pebble Bay, and I think this unit conveys it well. Stepping outside, you’re first greeted by an arched balcony entrance onto a manicured lawn. What’s really astounding is the garden vibes that you get from here. You don’t get an expansive view, but strange as it is, the building’s architecture on the backdrop actually contributes to the overall charm that this unit has to offer.
At 2,315 sqft for a 3-bedroom unit, each room here is sufficiently spacious, and the bathroom even comes with a bathtub. The balcony also stretches from the living area outside the bedroom. While this does reduce privacy, it certainly adds to the spaciousness of the room.
What’s also really impressive is the size of the kitchen. For those who cook a lot, this unit should sufficiently meet your needs!
