There’s something about having a pitched roof in your bedroom, a private pool on your terrace, or just a high ceiling living room that captures the attention. For some, it may just be a lifestyle benefit, but for others, it’s just a visual treat as they return home after a hard day at work.
This week, we take a look at some more unique houses for sale in Singapore. From a spacious nearly freehold apartment in the up-and-coming Bugis to a lovely duplex by the river – it’s definitely for those on the lookout for something quite different!

1Heritage Place

$5,750,000
Address: | Heritage Place |
---|---|
Tenure: | 999-year Leasehold |
Size: | 1,927 sqft |
$PSF: | $2,983.91 PSF |
Developer: | STAN-LLOYD INVESTMENTS PTE LTD |
TOP: | 1999 |
Why I like it
Bugis has changed a lot over the past few years. With the addition of iconic architecture like South Beach Residences and Duo Residences, to the upcoming mixed-use Guoco Midtown, and the rebuilding of Shaw Towers – the entire area will look completely different in the next few years. It will be bustling, and full of life – hence the increase in prices over the last few years.
Despite all the towering new additions to the area, it is still full of shophouses and iconic buildings. One of which is the under the radar Heritage Place. It’s location is fantastic – just at Tan Quee Lan Street. Right next to all the action and also to Bugis MRT station (although you will have to deal with construction noise for some time).
If you are looking for something to hold for the long term, this is it as it is a 999-year apartment (as good as freehold), which is rare to find in the middle of the city. This is a spacious duplex unit too, with 1,927 square feet of space for a 3 bedroom unit. I like the sloping roof as well, it adds character.

2Eco Sanctuary

$2,280,000
Address: | Eco Sanctuary |
---|---|
Tenure: | 99-year Leasehold |
Size: | 1,787 sqft |
$PSF: | $1,275.88 PSF |
Developer: | S P Setia International (S) Pte Ltd |
TOP: | 2016 |
Why I like it
This 3 bedroom duplex penthouse at Eco Sanctuary stood out to me because of that high ceiling in the living (allows you to take advantage of the view, and the space just look so much brighter), as well as the private spa pool on the roof top (I do wish it was less closed up though).
It’s a 1,787 square feet unit, so 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. You do have space for a wet and dry kitchen, along with a utility and yard space. There’s even some space for a separate study room, and the master bedroom features its own private balcony. The second floor is dedicated entirely to the roof terrace and the spa pool, which is accessible via the staircase.
The location itself is a bit of an acquired taste, although for some the views and greenery more than make up for it. With the addition of the upcoming Dairy Farm Residences, there will be more shops and amenities added in the future, so that’s a good thing.

3Island View

$5,280,000
Address: | Island View |
---|---|
Tenure: | Freehold |
Size: | 3,498 sqft |
$PSF: | $1,509.43 PSF |
Developer: | Island Homes Development |
TOP: | 1984 |
Why I like it
Island View is pretty well known for its big units, and this one is no different. With 3,498 square feet encompassing 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, the feel of this home is really almost like a landed one. It’s spacious and great for those looking for a landed-style living but still after the security of enclosed grounds and facilities.
The place is getting on in years, it was built in 1984 but it is freehold, at the very least. There are only 72 units, which isn’t a lot so maintenance wise it might be on the high side.
You get a large terrace (partly covered) here which is good for entertaining, and also because it does feature quite nice unblocked views. Each bedroom is a fantastic size as well, and will be the envy of new launch owners today. I do also like the sloping roof in some areas, which is a unique touch!

4Bliss@Kovan

$1,850,000
Address: | Bliss@Kovan |
---|---|
Tenure: | Freehold |
Size: | 1,765 sqft |
$PSF: | $1,048.16 PSF |
Developer: | BBR Kovan Pte. Ltd. |
TOP: | 2015 |
Why I like it
This penthouse unit at Kovan caught my attention because of the sheer size of it. 1,765 square feet for a 2 bedroom unit is certainly rare, and for those who have a small family or just want a expansive bachelor pad will want to take a second look. While selling it in the future may take longer due to the niche group it appeals to, those who are after something like this won’t have that many options on hand either.
This is also freehold, and relatively new, having been completed in 2015. You are about a 7-minute walk away from Kovan MRT station which is not bad at all considering your peaceful landed surrounding.
The layout itself is pretty decent, with the bedrooms below and the roof terrace on the second floor. You do get a private jacuzzi as well, and the spiral staircase looks cool plus takes up less space, although you should note it is located on the balcony (outside).

5River Place

$5,260,000
Address: | River Place |
---|---|
Tenure: | 99-year Leasehold |
Size: | 2,767 sqft |
$PSF: | $1,900.98 PSF |
Developer: | Far East Organization |
TOP: | 2000 |
Why I like it
I’ve always liked River Place, and it is a bit of a forgotten project due to upcoming new arrivals to the area such as CanningHill Piers. And well, it is getting on in age as well considering it’s a leasehold project. It was completed in 2000, which may come to a shock for some as it still looks quite fresh for its age.
Age concerns aside, there are a couple of things going on for it. For one, it occupies a great spot by the river, and with that, all the lifestyle benefits of living along the river (plus the amount of food options at Roberson Quay). Couple that with the mall at Clarke Quay and the upcoming CanningHill Piers commercial aspect and you don’t really have to move too far (not that you aren’t near to Orchard to begin with).
This is a big duplex unit, 2,767 square feet for 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. The highlight is definitely the very high ceilings in the living room, and I do like the unique skylight window as well as the windows that open up internally (facing the living), it’s almost like a shophouse feature.
