This week, we’re looking at a good mix of properties (at least, as much as variety as we can within the 5 weekly properties).
As usual, we have one or two penthouses to show you, and a rather well kept and renovated walk up unit in the Joo Chiat area – complete with swivel staircase. If that’s not enough, the unanimous favourite this week – a stylish 1-bedroom penthouse unit at Jalan Besar.

Here we go, these are the Units Of The Week for the week of 27 July 2020.

1Grange Heights

$5,000,000
Project: | Grange Heights |
---|---|
District: | 09 |
Address: | 15 Saint Thomas Walk |
Tenure: | Freehold |
Size: | 2,713 sqft |
$PSF: | $1,842.98 |
Developer: | Hong Leong Holdings Ltd |
TOP: | 1976 |
Why I like it
Amidst all the luxury modern condo developments in River Valley, it’s easy to forget sometimes about the older spaces that are still there – and Grange Heights is one of them.
On the outside, it looks like your typical old development, small balconies, and a blocky looking outer facade. What’s more important here to note is its location – it is central yet because it is located further in, it remains relatively quiet as it is shielded from the road noise along River Valley Road.
It has a land area of 135,179 square feet, with just 120 current units. The apartment itself is a very roomy 2,713 square feet of space – a real luxury in today’s context. Renovation wise, there’s really nothing to shout about here, you’d definitely want a good budget to get things going.

2Jalan Besar Walkup

$1,350,000
Project: | Jalan Besar Walkup |
---|---|
District: | 08 |
Address: | Jalan Besar Farrer Park |
Tenure: | Freehold |
Size: | 1,195 sqft |
$PSF: | $1,129.71/td> |
Developer: | – |
TOP: | – |
Why I like it
This walkup along Jalan Besar doesn’t have a ton of information to go along with it, other than its general location at Jalan Besar.
But that really isn’t what most people who are looking at this class of apartments would concern themselves over. It’s more about the size and the character of the space – something that this one seems to have lots of.
It is an extremely generously sized unit – even for a couple to live in. After all, how many 1 bedroom apartments do you know that come with enough space for an island kitchen? I like the furnishing as well, it looks elegant, homely, and comfortable all rolled in one.
– Druce

3Gallery 8

$1,880,000
Project: | Gallery 8 |
---|---|
District: | 15 |
Address: | Pulasan Road |
Tenure: | Freehold |
Size: | 2,055 sqft |
$PSF: | $914.84 |
Developer: | Fortune Development Pte Ltd |
TOP: | 2004 |
Why I like it
Sometimes I do find it a bit of a misnomer to describe a low rise highest floor apartment as a penthouse. Because frankly, at something like a 5 or 6 stories, you aren’t ever going to get a birds eye view of your surroundings.
Ramble aside, if you like high ceilings in your living area, and a nice open rooftop to chill or entertain guests this unit at Gallery 8 could be an option for you. At 2,055 square feet it is quite a good size for a 3 bedroom penthouse.
The interior is starting to look quite dated, so if you are particular on the inside you definitely need to set aside a small renovation budget.

4Tembeling Road

$1,300,000
Project: | Tembeling Road |
---|---|
District: | 15 |
Address: | Koon Seng Road |
Tenure: | Freehold |
Size: | 850 sqft |
$PSF: | $1,529.41 |
Developer: | – |
TOP: | – |
Why I like it
As far as one bedders go, this one at 850 square feet is pretty big when you take into consideration new launches of today.
The location is pretty convenient – but the nearest MRT stations are still a bit of a walk today so I’m not as big about the location.
Where this unit is a winner is in its renovated interior. I really like the grey tones with the lightly coloured wood combination – its superbly stylish and modern.
– Stanley

5Joo Chiat Walkup

$2,080,001
Project: | Joo Chiat Walkup |
---|---|
District: | 15 |
Address: | Near Rambutan Road |
Tenure: | Freehold |
Size: | 1,668 sqft |
$PSF: | $1,247 |
Developer: | – |
TOP: | – |
Why I like it
This walkup apartment at Joo Chiat is a really unique find. I can’t say I’m the biggest fan of vintage designs but for those who do, this would definitely be a real head turner – it really does suit the vibe of its environment.
I do especially like the black spiral staircase, it serves as a very cool focal point in the apartment and really ties in everything together very well indeed!
