Hi,
Regarding this article, on inheritance of parents flat. Can I check if it makes any difference if the flat is bought under SERS program and purchased before 30th Aug 2010.
I am holding a private property and wonder how the inheritance rules applies to SERs purchased flat?
Appreciate if you could advise.

#3 is the worst idea of the bunch. Why should private property owners be allowed to also own a HDB with impunity, if HDBs are meant to be affordable public housing?

Make them pay the ABSDs and contribute to nation building!

I agree. I feel that anyone who can afford to own a private property shouldn’t be allowed to own a HDB even if they are staying in the HDB while renting out their private property. The government should have a law that make those who are currently doing that sell their HDB flat or their private property(ies). In this manner, there will definitely be a drop in prices of property in Singapore making it more affordable for those who are sincere in owning a property. If the rich can afford several private properties, by all means go ahead. But some rich people apply for HDB and after 5 years, they sell for a profit while staying in private houses during that period. Just like a recent news of one unit of ‘Blank Canvas’ BTO flat in Bukit Batok.
