Sports fans have one more reason to visit Lombok’s idyllic coast when the Rafa Nadal Tennis Center - the first of its kind in Southeast Asia, and only the third in the world -  opens together with Samara Lombok in 1Q2028.

The 150-ha Samara Lombok is an integrated residential and hospitality concept by Rascal Republic, a Singapore-based hospitality and development group behind the world’s highest outdoor bar, 1-Altitude; Dallas Restaurant & Bar (Marina BaySands); and Rascal Voyages—a premium yacht charter company for off-grid Indonesian expeditions.

The challenge for many buyers today isn't access to information.

It's interpreting that information in a way that makes sense for their finances, goals, and stage of life.

Over time, that's also why we decided to work with agents who shared the same data-driven and advisory-led approach behind our editorial, consultants who could help readers think through decisions more objectively, rather than simply push transactions.

Today, the team has worked with more than 2,000 clients across over $5B in property transactions.

While the project will open with three boutique hotels and 150 completed residential villas in 1Q2028, all 500 villas have been released for sale, with a few plots still available for purchase.

The developer has more than just the backing of a recognisable sports talent like Rafa Nadal to anchor its project. It has also signed a partnership agreement with international hotelier Hyatt to debut the Destination Hyatt brand in Southeast Asia.

Other partnerships which will be featured at Samara Lombok includes 12 dining concepts curated by celebrity chef Will Meyrick and world-leading children's cookery author Annabel Karmel, a marine biology and watersports centre operated by luxury expedition company Rascal Voyages, and a football training centre anchored by a ‘globally recognised’ club partner. The announcement of the Rafa Nadal Tennis Center is the latest brand-name partnership coming to this Indonesian coastal project.

"Lombok is a destination with enormous international potential and we believe this project will help bring our methodology and our passion for sport to new generations of players and families from all over the world,” says Maribel Nadal, Deputy General Manager of the Rafa Nadal Academy.

The first Rafa Nadal Tennis Center was launched in 2019 at the Palladium Hotel Group resort in Costa Mujeres, Mexico. Since then, other training centres have opened in Sani (Greece), Hong Kong, Marbella, and Punta Cana (Dominican Republic), in addition to academies in Manacor, Kuwait and Egypt. A new centre in Brazil is also set to open in 2028.

These tennis complexes are often located in high-end holiday and residential resorts, and combine leisure, tourism, and top-quality sports coaching. The new Rafa Nadal Tennis Center in Lombok will feature four tennis courts and four padel courts, with sports programmes for players of all ages and abilities.

“Bringing Rafa Nadal's methodology to South Lombok gives guests of all ages and abilities a sporting experience that is both rare in the region and deeply aligned with the destination we are building,” says Steve Ebsworth, one of the developers behind Samara Lombok.

He adds that development’s appeal as a long-term lifestyle asset is supported by the rapid growth of Lombok’s tourism market and ongoing infrastructure investment.

At Samara Lombok, the 500 villas range from two to five bedroom properties. Prices start from US$650,000 ($834,608) for a two-bedroom villa to US$2,250,000 ($2.9 million) for a five-bedroom unit.

A limited number of turnkey villas are still available for investors on a 90-year leasehold structure at fixed prices, offering milestone payments with a build timeline of 15 to 18 months. This is longer than the typical 25 to 30-year leases that similar projects in Bali tend to offer.
