This week, we visit a 3-room HDB rebuild in Punggol. Homeowner Johan was particular about the layout of his home, and specifically chose this because it was on a high floor and a corner unit. It’s a 3-room resale HDB that’s at 753 square feet in size, and he spent a total of $65k for the renovation, and about $25k on furnishing and accessories.
Because the bomb shelter was by the entrance, he had it covered with fluted panels. He also had a seating area next to his shoe cabinet, for easy convenience when going in and out of the house. Johan also does a look of baking, so he customised the kitchen according to his needs. He opted to go for a small stove so that he had more worktop space for prep, and a kitchen island in the middle. For practical purposes, he went with quartz countertops as well as they are more lasting.
For his dining area, he chose a unique retractable dining table that can be extended up to 2m when his family comes around, and put away when he is dining alone.
For the rooms, he has a “walk-in” common room, and chose not to hack the entire wall but install a black glass door instead that connects to his bedroom.
Special thanks to Johan for showing us around his sleek bachelor pad!
