How A Trip To The Himalayas Inspired This Woman’s Wabi Sabi Home Interior

This week, we visit a very interesting home in Bedok that also doubles up as an intimate studio (Studio Somayoke).
Homeowner Yoke Wen was first taken in by this 3-room resale HDB home in Bedok because of the unobstructed view that stretches to the CBD. It was in its original condition with 721 square feet of space, but she had one of the bedrooms knocked down to form a large living instead. The result is an open form that is done up in an “imperfect” Wabi-Sabi style that was partly influenced by her time in the Himalayas (she even published a photo journal book).
As part of the style, her wooden dining table is also upcycled from Taobao, which used to be part of a door frame.
Special thanks to Yoke Wen for showing us around her tranquil home/studio. For more please visit: https://instagram.com/free_peanut
