This week, we visit a bright and cosy HDB maisonette in Kovan. When homeowners Suren and Esther took over the unit, the original layout was fully covered, with the living room extended onto the balcony. After breaking down a few walls, the new space looks completely different – it’s undoubtedly more spacious looking and open.
One of the coolest features of the house is the balcony space as the glass doors can be completely opened up to have a seamless entrance into the space from the balcony. And so even if you are sitting outside, it’s like you are still a part of the living room, yet are able to enjoy the outside air.
Other interesting features include an arch in the living room to soften the look of the space, and a small area dedicated to their mini record collection. They also utilised the space below the staircase to include more storage spaces.
The master bedroom on the second floor showcases a wall mural that has been hand painted by Geraldine from Ochre Home (one of the first homes that we’ve featured!). The colours are bright and vivid, and really sets the room apart from the rest of the spaces.
Special thanks to Esther and Suren for taking the time to show us around! For more on their lovely home, please visit: https://www.instagram.com/scandi_kovan/
