More than three decades after its initial release, this new edition of Tokyo Style revives a cult classic and collector’s item. Kyoichi Tsuzuki’s timeless photographs provide an intimate glimpse into real Tokyo homes, now presented with an updated design while maintaining the original’s generous format. The book’s iconic images are complemented by a new afterword from Kyoichi, reflecting on the nostalgia evoked by his work, which captures a richly expressive analogue world. A foreword by writer Barry Yourgrau, a longtime friend of Kyoichi, reflects on Tokyo’s ‘untidy and prodigiously cluttered’ spaces, filled with items ranging from the raunchy to the kawaii (Japanese for “cute”).

Tokyo Style immerses readers in the everyday lives of one of the world’s major cities, offering insights into living more authentically and connected to our communities. Kyoichi invites readers to explore this way of life, noting, ‘This lifestyle ain’t half bad’.
